Or are you in the start-up phase and looking to refine your business plan and interact with like-minded entrepreneurs? Do you want to use your business to positively impact your community?

If so, our Business Start-up Idea Incubator may be right for you. This training program is set up to meet your needs as you plan to successfully launch your business.

Idea Incubators provide a virtual 10-week business development course for local entrepreneurs. This unique program offers an interactive and conversational way for a group of aspiring entrepreneurs to learn and work through the early stages of the business planning process, while creating the types of positive relationships and networking which is essential for small business owners. Upon completion, participants will leave with a solid business plan, an outline for community impact, and an understanding of what their next steps should be.

In addition, Idea Incubators are a prerequisite for the annual Great Social Enterprise Pitch competition so classes include additional education on integrating social and environmental impact through your business model.

The Women’s Business Center at ASSETS houses all of Entrepreneur Training’s programs. It exists to support small business owners who are starting or expanding their businesses. While extra consideration is given to the specific challenges and issues for women entrepreneurs, the programs serve all—women, men, and racial and ethnic minorities.

Spring 2022 Idea Incubator

Curated For: Entrepreneurs in the Business Idea and Start-up Phases

  • Open Enrollment Starts: Monday, November 8th, 2021 at 8 a.m.
  • Open Enrollment Ends: Friday, January 21st, 2022 at 8 a.m.
  • Selected Cohort Notified by: Friday, January 28, 2022
  • Course Fee: $200
    • Scholarship/payment plan available upon request
  • Classes: Cohort sessions are held every Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.
  • Course Requirements and Prerequisites: The Idea Incubator cohort is expected to have a business idea and attend weekly workshops on how to develop their business plan. Attendance and participation are a must!
  • Location: In person at the ASSETS’ office

How Idea Incubators Work

Who can participate?

Business Start-Up Idea Incubators are open to aspiring entrepreneurs looking to develop a business idea into a business plan and start-up business owners who need training on foundational business models like developing a Minimum Viable Product and a target market.

As part of the training, 15 business ideas will be chosen to become part of the Cohort designed to help develop and build solid businesses. Prospective entrepreneurs must fill out an online application prior to the deadline.

How much does it cost?

The total cost is $200.

How long is the commitment?

The Women’s Business Center at ASSETS hosts two Idea Incubator cohorts per year—Fall and Spring. The cohorts meet for a period of ten weeks on a weekly basis for three hours. Attendance at all classes is required.

What will be expected of me?

The Idea Incubator cohort is expected to have a business idea and attend weekly workshops on how to develop their business plan. As a participating entrepreneur in the training, you are expected to come eager to build your business idea and grow your plan on a weekly basis. In order to capitalize on the course, attendance and participation are a must!
